I was installing the drivers from HP's website after doing a clean install with Windows 8.1 on my laptop and I found what's called an HP Energy Star Qualified Power Plan driver (h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&softwareitem=ob-109912-1).

    The description reads:
This passage doesn't make it any clearer to me about what it's for. Does it server any useful purpose?

(Sorry if this is the wrong forum/subforum to ask.)

    Ah, I see.

I'll perhaps install it because since the time I did the clean installation, my laptop seems to get hot very quickly (I'm hoping maybe that the Power Saver plan will have certain settings for fan speed, etc. that'll keep my laptop cooler.)
