Have you fiddled with cleanmgr or set a scheduled task?
Update history is usually found at "%windir%\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore" and needs to be 'cleaned' manually...

I never set up any kind of "Scheduled Task" on anything, but I did use the Disk cleanup utility a few days ago, and that was the first thing I looked at but there were no options to shut anything down. I was not sure if Disk cleanup had anything to do with it anyway? I just looked in Task Scheduler and there is nothing setup and no tasks have run in the last 30 days.

Compression is usually disabled per default at cleanmgr (registry value) on current systems. They want you to remove them...:)

@oldsh_t: Did you use Simplix pack? Last step of Simplix is to do a Windows Updates 'DeepClean' which will lead to the symptoms you described after next reboot. DeepClean can be run from Disk Cleaning Wizard. Also, in Win 8 the process is part of Automatic/Idle Maintenance. Don't know if it's in Win7, too.

Thanks and I understand that now. My only thoughts now is why I have never seen that before in the last 10 or so month's?? I have ran it before many times and never once have I seen this, until now??

But with all the great help here I am not so worried about it any more now that I know what is doing it.
