Hello, I open this topic by proposing something fun, it's that everyone can post the speed of his internet connection, I thought it could be nice to compare our internet connections and know the different subscriptions to which members are subscribed here. Each member will have to mention the type of the subscription to which he has subscribed and the price he pays monthly. I'll start Here's my internet speed : i subscribed to 100 MB optic fiber and i pay 50 euros per month. I know you can consider as high price but the fiber appeared here late which explains why it is still expensive.
@MMIKEE @CaptainSpeleo I never heard of these cables whether in europe or in africa so i suppose you live elsewhere. What type of cable spectrum and newwave are they ? Is it fiber ?
Sparklight / NewWave is a USA based cable TV/Phone/Internet Service Provider. They offer up to 1000 Gbps D/L and 100 Mbps U/L Yes, it is Fiber
The subscriptions internet prices are also very high in the usa compared to europe I know people there who are subscribing to 1 GB fiber for 25 euros per month but it depends on your internet provider, it generally does not exceed 40 euros whatever the ISP on which you subscribe for 1 Gbps D/L and U/L. Unfortunately here where i live, such speed is not available yet.
I subscribe to Frontier (FiOS) in The USA Paying for 50 down & 50 up. Edit: Oh ya, I pay $65.00 USD a Mo for the service
wow that's quite expensive for such speed. that's even more expensive that my subscription. So i notice that internet subscription prices in USA are not that cheap compared to Europe which they are accessible to everyone and at the best possible speed.
Very stable internet provider, paying 40 euro p/m for it...This includes the cable/tv costs(20 euro) Streaming etc...all fine...upload is a little crap tho...
That's still expensive in my opinion for such speed. what is your exact subscription ? i mean which internet speed did you subscribe at ?
yup.... I have a budget package at 75Mbps/5Mbps like shown in the screenshot The expensive part are the (extra) cable costs p/m = 20 euro. I have to take this part, else i have no cable connection in he house, and that part of the costs incl a basic tv package. So it' about 20 euro for the internet part.... It's good enough for me personally tho...I can stream 1080 with ease and do other things while streaming... Nothing blocked or capped...and always stable..that's also important A faster subscription would be overkill, and just to expensive in my case that is. The upload part is crappy speed, but i'm not really using it anyway.
Good for you As long as the speed suits your needs, this is what is important. But you didn't answer my question about the exact choosen subsscription. e.g in my country you have the choice between subscribing to 50 Mgbs, 100 Mgbs and 200 Mgbs fiber. I choose to subscrive to 100 Mgbps for 50 euros monthly. What about you ? and how do you have to pay to have faster fiber subscription ? also, has the internet test you posted above been done through wifi or through ethernet cable ?
In Argentina (South America) the Internet is slow compared to the USA and Europe. Fiber is available only in large urban centers, and because I live in a rural area, I only have "copper cable" ADSL. Download Only 10Mb/sec and Upload only 0,8 Mb/sec Cost: ARS 2500 (30.62 USD at official exchange rate) For example: I'm downloading 20H2 ISO right now and goes for 54% and there are still 32 minutes left.
My campus WiFi is right now most of the time a little over 200mbps bidirectional on my phone and when the misbehaving WiFi card on my laptop feels like connecting properly. Sadly I get half or less of that on my main PC with the substandard WiFi card (1x1, N150 w/o MU-MIMO, HP really had to cheap out on THAT of all things) it has, but I've got a beefy external adapter coming soon from Amazon that should fix that and give me full speed.
I'm sorry, didn't read ur reply before....my bad... i explained it as it is = 75Mbps/5Mbps Cable subscription for about €24 monthly....The other costs are for the cable/tv connection(without it, there's no internet) = total €44 monthly A little weird, i know.... but it's the way it works here The fast one = 1000Mbps/100Mbps for €69, it seems i pay the most for less speeds hehe....the more speed seems cheaper lol but my budget won't allow me those costs......and it works just fine as it is. But after checking it again, it seems a little weird hehe.... don't understand what u mean by this? it's tested with a cable, no loss on the connection all the time... Excuse for not replying earlier! Best wishes btw.......
Mine is 50 Mbps both up and down at the cost of around $8 per month ! Internet/mobile telephony in India is right now cheap compared to 1st-world countries !
