Hello Everyone, I would like to have some ideas of a Windows 10 version that could replace WES 7 Standard x64. The processor have 1GHz dual-core and have 2 GB RAM. (and I will upgrade to 4 GB - the machine can have the maximum of 8 GB) The user interface (GUI) is important for me. As far as I know, Windows IOT core don't have any GUI... Other curiosity that I have, is, if possible, to slipstream the OS and make it quite lightweight... ? ALL SUGGESTIONS WILL BE WARMTH WELCOMED AND HIGHLY APPRECIATED
Short answer, NONE will run properly, if it installs at all. ps, can you run the QT from here on that old hardware and post the saved report (not the private one) here, in code tags?
WES 7 without ESU is discontinued, and I REALLY don't like Windows 8... And I think about DirectX 12... You can give me suggestions and advices, and Thank you for helping me...
Upgrade to 4 def, if possible 8 GB. Swap out the hard drive for SSD or you will be sorry. Then install Windows 10 Pro. I have installed on small netbook with many variants, and have not noticed any significant changes with usability. You will be slow starting, but this computer will be good for doing internet, email, etc.
There's a tool here on the forum which will let you install the updates to Windows 7 up until 2023. And why do you want Directx12, you can't play any modern games on that machine ? And what is it about Windows 8.1 that you don't like ? Do you know you change just about every aspect of that OS and make it like Windows 7 and keep all the improvements ?
Kodi 18.9 and 19 taking advantages of DirectX 12 engine... Now the machine have WES 7 and Kodi 18.9 and running pretty fine...
Yes, let's advice him to invest good money in an ancient eeepc or netboot from the stone-age (without even knowing what other hardware is onboard), for a couple of bucks more he can see if he can get a used more modern laptop.
I would highly recommend you to do what @Enthousiast said here you will not find any better council on hardware compatibility, OS choice etc.
Read my post a bit more carefully, i ask to run a query tool which will give some useful info about the hardware.
@Shortyportuguese I would remove this private report, it contains privacy related info and post the other saved report in code tags, it has all privacy related stuff edited out. As far as i can tell about the hardware it's probably not supported to run 10 properly at all.
And it is severely affected by Meltdown mitigation, slowing it down even more unless Meltdown protection is disabled.
I am pretty sure 10 will run on it. It will take forever to install though. Start installation, then go to sleep. Not kidding. When it boots to OOBE screens you will have another rough time. Once it is installed it is best to keep it up and running as boot time will be really slow.
I have installed Windows 10 LTSB over the night, and boot time was slow, but, to use is nearly ok, but slow...
