Curious, maybe missing a thread, but what options exist to make Windows 10 IoT 21H2 more closely line up with Windows 10 Pro services and functionality? I am guessing it is a matter of enabling some services, but I would like to know if there is comprehensive guide to walk one through making 10 IoT behave more like standard releases.
Which method would you like to use ? Install Pro gpedit.msc Registry EditionSwitch Windows Editions Reconstruction
I would like the longevity of IoT and much of the functionality of Pro that would be expected by a "home" user that may not be able to understand if certain things are disabled and cannot live with Windows 11 or the insupport of 10 Pro in a couple years. I'm fine with gpedit, registry modification, services manipulation, ETC. @pm67310 please elaborate on "regulated package" and such. Seems reasonable, but incomplete?
Look like you have your work cut out, because you have selected the hardest methods, because you would need to know all the settings for pro in gpedit, registry & services, wish you the best of luck...
I don't think Feature upgrade is what he is wanting, i think it's (IoT) Enterprise 2021 LTSC activation and support.
I know what you mean about windows 11, i can't stand the themes, icons, taskbar and Start Menu,.., under the hood is good, windows 11 can be very fast with right setting...
There are a lot of people who simply cannot upgrade to Windows 11. Many poor people around the world and need their Windows systems to last as long as they can and retain "consumer" functions. Windows 10 IoT can essentially fill that role. I think everything is fine the way it is right now, but I feel like it might be missing something that will bite the user later down the road if I don't enable something. The Microsoft Store is working fine. All old programs are working fine. So maybe I'm just paranoid, but it seems like I should enable something somewhere and I wish there were a guide or some batch script to just enable anything that a lower end more ignorant user might want that could be missing. Oh well, I think this is fine from first impression. Most important thing is Browser and basic security. Malwarebytes runs fine. Edge runs fine. Photos from M$$$$ runs fine. All drivers are fine. Probably paranoid.
And not many, if at all, will still run it in 2032, most will move on the 2024 LTSC as soon as they can get their hands on a ISO But still why would you want to modify IoT Enterprise (i just realized LTSC was not mentioned by the OP?) to behave more like Pro, even when IoT Enterprise is the same as normal enterprise being the top of the SKUs. Same goes for the LTSC version, what can't it do what Pro can?
Good to know. Thank you @Enthousiast. I am referring to services enabled/disabled primarily. Some users just want their system to stay the same forever until the hardware dies.
