    As said in the 2nd post, they are the exact same. The only difference is that the Enterprise is VLK (for Large companies that need to install on MANY computers, so they can use 1 key for all)

    i suggest you go with Ultimate OEM..i was using XP VLK happily till now but only yesterday windows update gave warning that the VLK i was using does not match my geographical location..no updates for me

    ive converted my XP to OEM and everything is now back to normal :)

    Windows 7 Ultimate should be good. It has most of the stuff.

    is the enterprise edition available on the win7 RTM release DVD 16385 if i remove the ei.cfg?

    I think no, enterprise edition has a different installer file.

    they have the same functionality, but different activation method
    enterprise is MAK and KMS
    where as ultimate you can activate it with OEM key

    no, the enterprise version is a separate DVD image. removing the ei.cfg will not give you the option to choose the enterprise version.

    There is NO difference between enterprise and ultimate. Enterprise is for VLK customers and Ultimate is the Retail channel version of that. They both will take any key you put in them to my knowledge you will just have to use the slmgr.vbs -ipk command to install the product key.
