What's the best os for this specifications ?!

    Hey everybody ..

    this is my system specifications ..

    Intel® Celeron® Processor 2.40 GHz
    RAM 1 GB
    Nvidia GeForce FX 5200
    Hard Drive 160 GB

    I want to know the best os for this specifications .. and does it handle win 7 well ?!

    If you want to try Windows 7 i would install Home Edition, nothing more then that.

    Or you can try a cut off version of Windows 7 (Windows 7 Lite or Tiny 7) :D

    all should run fairly well on it. Aero may be non-existent. I have had W7 on some very low tech machines for testing and they all seem to run pretty well. Certainly better that Vista would, and it came on machines with similar specs to these...

    Windows 7 seems fairly forgiving. I think XP would be best though...

    The tiny 7 or similar are not worth the effort....

    If you want windows ,then xp is fine.Else try linux distros,they're quite fast .

    XP + Visual Theme if you want to have 7 GUI.

    Mine is much lower specs and it run comparably with xp sp3, think its a little bit faster than xp, also with aero enabled but its hard to find a driver compatibility with nvidia, mine is:

    AMD Athlon XP 1600+
    512MB RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500

    This is the driver i used to enable aero, just use compatibility to vista or not, mine just installs fine without compatibility though:
    96.85_forceware_winvista_x86_international_whql

    PS. I.m using this low-end pc now and everyday and its just run fine, i'm not a gamer though so no advice on that.

    PS. If you have spare USB flash drives, use it for ReadyBoost as mine is much stable with ReadyBoost add-ons.
