We usually talk about the best tech that's available. But for every great product on the market, there are a multitude of terrible alternatives, some of which we occasionally make the mistake of purchasing. What comes to mind right now is an impressive looking short wave radio I bought as a student, when I was on a tight budget. It was widely advertised with words such as “The word in your palm”. Well, it could only get local stations with some noise, and pure noise for anything distant. Fortunately, it was bought from a reputable shop that gave me my money back. I even understood I wasn’t the only dissatisfied customer. But one thing came out of it: I learned back then not to believe ads.
easily the worst was a nvidia gs 660; it used power, it made noise, and did not improve the video performance a bit. it selfdestroyed after about 6 months, overheated. but one thing came out of it. i never bought a video card again. onboard graphics are good enough for me; not a gamer anyway. and it is not easy to get a good sw signal, i know. the antenna and ground are much more important than the whole radio, btw. too bad am modulation is dying out..
Bought a wireless mouse ages ago , early 2000s and it was terrible. It was more erratic than the Windows 10 Forum !
TRS80-100 "Portable Computer" Paid $25 for one on a clearance table at Radio Shack in the mid 80's. Talk about user-unfriendly... absolute rubbish! 2nd place includes any device that used VHS cassettes
