Where can I get a retail version of Vista Basic install DVD?

    I am working on a friends laptop and needd to reinstall windows. It has Vista Basic and the system only has 512MB memory and a single core Celerom M processor, so I don't think an upgrade to 7 or a better version of Vistaa will work without overloading thee machine. I think Vista Basic is too much ass it is and may put XP on it.

    Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of a Vista Basic .iso file something. I see some for 7 and other versions of Vista, just not the Basic version Vista.

    I didn't want to install the Acer version it ccame with so as to avoid all thee preloaded crap those discs always come with and slowing it down even more.

    do you have a torrent program?

    i can give you the torrent tracker to download vista with sp2

    search the hashes on any search engine and you will find them:

    verify the hash's in the iso with the hash's below from msdn:

    Thank you for the link. I forgot that my Vista Ultimate had all versions of Vista and was able to use that.

    I just installed 7 ultimate on an old pentium 4 2.8 ht, 7 works fine and probably better than vista on older hardware. Had to force the XP network driver but after that WU found all the drivers it needed.

    Please refrain from posting torrents they are not allowed on forum READ the RULES.
    The file hashes should be enough for member to search with.

    I don't get this, M$ has the iso named:

    en_windows_vista_with_sp2_x86_dvd_342266.iso

    Yet many places have this supposed iso named as:

    en_windows_vista_sp2_x86_dvd_342266.iso

    No 'with' in the name, hmmm...o_O
