In all fairness why do you folks here criticize people for not searching first for answers. First why have a forum if you don't want to answer peoples questions? Is it all that hard to respond? Second half of these threads are 600 pages long. I myself want an answer not do a PHD research paper. Someone will answer them if you don't want bothered.
Well for this one I agree with the members that say "Search", they aren't criticizing they are making a statement that those 600 pages are REPEAT questions, if someone would have taken the time to Search first then there would be a lot less. Sorry bud but finding the answer to this one does not require a degree, and like most members years ago I stopped answering since people ask the same question over and over again.
All the software that are compatible with Windows 7 are also compatible with Windows 8. So, you can choose between any of the strong antivirus programs to boost up the security of your computer. The best ones are given below:- Avast Immunet AVG Avira Comodo Bitdefender Windows Defender Kaspersky etc.
I do not know why MSE gets such a bad rap. Ok it is basic, but since Feb 2010 I have been using MSE in 7 and defender in 8. I download from torrents, browse a lot, and basically completely use up by 200 GB per month internet usage. Yet in 44 months, any periodic installation of paid/free AV incl. Kaspersky, Avast, Symantec has not been able to detect any virus or given a false positive. MSE does flag some keygens but that is only once and it asks what to do (ignore or delete). The key for me could be regular backups and imaging on a 3-4 day schedule (restore back, refresh, backup).
