What are the benefits of using Windows RT? And any one can compare Windows RT vs Windows 8 Pro Tab. , that would be nice? I like to buy one of these, but Pro Surface seems to be little pricey . What do you guys think about Windows RT and Pro,any suggestions? And how about a Windows 8 Laptop?
Windows RT and Windows 8 Pro should not be confused as the same operating system for different platforms. They are, even though similar in appearance and the way to operate, completely different OSes at the same computer period. Windows RT Surface or Tablet just as its name "Surface", this kinda tablet just represent as one surface or frontend of your computer, and leaving much room for cloudy computing. All the application are architected on the metro platform, meaning that it gives the end-user one surface with few computing power behind it. Because ARM processor, even though multi-corelised, its essential computing power could not compare to traditional x86/x64 processors such as ones from AMD/Intel. But the power consumption of ARM platform is very low but good enough to drive all the every day's work. With help of the powerful integrated GPGPU, the ARM platform could also be enhanced with video processing and dedicated computing. But Windows 8 Pro Tablet or laptop have the potential capability to do everything one general PC could, not only for Metro App but also the desktop applications. But because adopting traditional x86/x64 processor, comparably the power consumption is a bit higher. So these two similar devices are completely different computers for different fields. There is nothing better or nothing worse. Just depend what you want or what you require your next computer do. That is the very reason for your choice...
I wait for the Pro because I need to do normal work with it. Cost starting by US$ 899 for the 64GB Model and US$ 999 for the 128GB. without the Keyboard it's quite a bit lighter than the Macbook Air (more than 300 grams), has a much better screen and run normal desktop apps. Als an high capacity Card reader is available and other's. I do believe that the price is ok and not to expensive.
I'd wait for the pro just because of the fact its going to have an Intel Core i5 and not an ARM chip. The possibilities are endless with an Intel Chip. There are barely any programs for Windows RT and the cant run 32 or 64 bit code which about every desktop app uses.
After the mess that came out of windows vista when it was launched, I would definitely wait and use the older version of windows rather. It’s kind of safe option. There are few comparisons that may help online
RT has no benefits, only shortcomings. I would avoid anything with RT in it like the plague. anything running x86 should be fine.
