Can anyone recommend a good third party firewall for Windows 10? With that i mean something that doesn't use the built in base filtering engine, and preferably something without too much bloat, i don't need my firewall to also scan for viruses or fetch coffee...

Look 'n' Stop no longer works, so I'm lost.

Windows Firewall Control is just an interface for the built in native Windows Firewall, like TinyWall to name another example. I'm looking for something that doesn't use the "base filtering engine".

    From your link Lobo:

"Windows Firewall Control is a powerful software which extends the functionality of Windows Firewall and provides new extra features which makes Windows Firewall even better."

It's a front end for the Windows Firewall.

No it doesn't, it still uses the base filtering engine service, go and disable it, and see for yourself that Windows Firewall Control will also stop working.

I'll give it a try, must be good if you wasted your first post on the recommendation.

No it doesn't, it's a GUI for Win Firewall.

It looks like NetLimiter also uses the base filtering engine, it doesn't even install without!

I believe it was created right here on MDL, it works, but you have to allow things, have to read very carefully, it was made to stop spyware I believe.:D

Why would you want a alternate Firewall that's going to use additional resources when you already have a great Firewall built into Windows 10.

Huh, that sucks. What about GlassWire? I know it's bloated though.

Ok, we're making jokes about that Stupid Bat dude  Hey Wait That's Me

Windows firewall is "Good Enough" for Me. I also use GlassWire on My "testing" OS copies but rarely on the daily drivers. Had a few versions that were real resource hogs, but the latest version isn't any problem. I think it was Build 14352  or the build before  that crashed GlassWire and I swapped over to SystemExplorer until Glasswire was updated. SystemExplorer was too complicated for My simple mind :weep:

Comodo Free Firewall is also a good option for me.
