Which tune utilities are compatible and doing a good job with Windows 8.1?

I mean not based on what sellers promote on their websites, but according to experiences by members and users on MDL.:)

Thanks for replying, but could you be a bit more specific; e.g. what the benefits are compared to other utilities?

CCleaner is the tool to go. If used with brain, it is very useful and the best is: It is free :D

Best is with CCleaner in opposite to those `Tuners` it´s nearly impossible to fubar the system. These tool might have been a good idea a decade ago, but nowadays in best case they don´t harm the system too much.

Had 2 patients here lately, where people tried to 'tune' their systems. As always they didn´t know for sure what they tried :cool2:. Both machines were technically D.O.A., only a Repair Install was left to correct this mess :D.

Those magical tuning utilities are snake oil and cause more problems than good.

Do the teaks manually and just use CCleaner for cleaning up crap

Another vote for CCleaner. Don't bother with tweakers, tune-up utils.

    Thank you all for replying!

In a very few cases I noticed that CCleaner couldn't solve a problem, but - half a year ago in Windows 8 - Tuneup Utilities 2013 was able to rescue the system. Now I have Windows 8.1, and for similiar situations, where Windows 8.1 shows problems, like not able to start uTorrent responsive but hanging from the first moment, as I recently noticed, it's good to know which utility could do the job.

Try Privazer I think you will be mighty impressed with that one and it's also a free app.

I was a CCleaner user for years till a friend gave me a heads up on privazer it finds tons of things that CCleaner misses your will be quite surprised. Just take note to be careful what you have checked to clean especially the first 4 options with the yellow sign on them pre-analysis, Traces in MFT, Traces in free space and traces in USN journal if your not sure with what those do best to uncheck them but by far is the best cleaning app I have ever used.

Tune Utilities can't rescue the system, you'd better use RollbackRX or similar tools

Installing stuff like cleaners and optimizers will only mess up your OS (other than CCleaner). If you are having computer problems with apps like utorrent its probably something you are installing prior to utorrent. Does utorrent act up on a fresh install, probably not. If your computer is running slow it's probably old and optimizers aren't going to speed it up in general after you clean your caches.

Yes. CCleaner is the best yet. Also don't forget to add Winapp2.ini for more functionality.
Also you could use UnCleaner too.

My most effective cleaning tool seems to be the Windows versions that come out every year.
It's like a clean slate every 12 months now.

Tune-Up Utilities 2014 is out now and fully working, did'nt have to use compatibility wizard either.
