So there's a few different versions of Win10 that are going to be available. I was wondering which version you guys are going to use. Home Home N (No media apps and player) Home Single Language (Like Home but can't switch language) Pro Pro N (Again no media) Education (Like Enterprise but you have to prove you're a student to buy it) Home Country Specific (China only) Enterprise Enterprise N (!=media) Enterprise LTSB (Long-term AKA no auto upgrade to fall/spring versions) Enterprise LTSB N (same but with no media stuff) Most of us have a legit upgrade to Home/Pro, but personally I'm leaning toward "Enterprise LTSB N" I like having the option to sever MS umbilical regarding forced updates and do them myself. I also don't care much for the media stuff as I generally use 3rd party stuff. If you had the option to buy LTSB or Enterprise in general, would you? I think I would. Win10 seems like it's going to be a great OS and it's the version I would prefer.
I will use what is legal on my PCs for now, three copies of home and two of pro. I have three more win 8 pro licenses but no pcs worth wasting them on.
Windows 10 Pro x64 with Windows Update Service Disabled and install Windows Updates Manually using dism with .cab files.
be honest i don't give sh1t about media ..but take pro permant activated without do anything and try buy enterprise that make me greedy....i'm glad with pro i can do same integration and other stuffs no need more...
Pro, because my legit copy of Windows 8.1 is ProWMC I may also put Home on my laptops original drive since it came with 8.1 Core
I will wait until the 29th for Windows 10 Home on my desktop and Pro on my lap, both cases because that's the path I was given by having Windows 7. But as OP mentions I am strongly considering the Enterprise long term support route, for the same reasons as OP.
I use the windows 10 pro version. But i won't to be bad but i dont know if i can keep for long time the windows 10 on my pc maybe return back on windows 7 who knows.....?
have one old pc with win 10 pro x86 upgraded from 8.1.1 pro, another 8.1.1 pro x64 waiting for upgrade, and another win 10 pro x64 upgraded from 8.1.1 x64 core on insiders, don't know happened with that upgrade and what will happen to that one on the 29th,if worse comes to worse,if i opt out,i'll buy the pro key for it.
Enterprise LTSB is a guarantee for me. Enterprise as well for regular workstations and/or possibly PRO, might just be the 2 Ent's I'm still debating. One way or another there will probably be a PRO in there somewhere too, whether VL or not dunno, not that it matters being VL or not for me. the Pros would be mostly for compatibility "watch" scenarios and such.
I have 4 laptops and a tablet and I will want the legit upgrade version in case I decide to sell the laptops/tablet in the future. I have 4 desktops and I may go for the Enterprise edition IF I can activate it.
I will be using Pro. I may have Enterprise on VHD (not VMWare, etc but straight VHD,) and I am sure to try out others the same way. I am in Insider Program, so I will install whatever I feel like, when I feel like, and how I feel like!
If your legit upgrade path is to Win10 Pro, how do you plan on going to Enterprise? You plan on buying a legit license? Expensive isn't it?
Don't know. If they have the option, I'd consider it. It would obviously have to depend on the price.
I have 2 legit pro upgrades, though I'll only use one because I need media center on the other. I also have a few home upgrades as well.
