Hi My friend has an old fujitsu laptop and he likes windows 7 and hate windows 10 Which version of windows 7 86x I can install for him? I want the laptop to be light and fast as possible and if you may provide direct link for the suggested iso that would be much appreciated. Thanks
give details about the hardware side. which os was previously installed? I would try W7 pro perhaps except if drivers are not available. Have a look on manufacturer side to see if it's ok.
It is my friend who like it and I want to help him. Isn't 64 bit is a bit heavier compared to 32 bit? Also does downloading an iso that has latest updates slipstreamed is better or to install the original untouched and updated regularly? which option is recommended?
For windows 7 in particular, updating a clean MSFT iso is one of the worst decisions you could make. An updated image is currently the best course of action.
can i get PMs too? i lcan i get PMs too? im looking for the best version for my old laptop too... my hp pavvilion g6 grpahics do not support win 10 ):
@MGadAllah Pick whichever one you like. My point was I don't recommend clean images + updating through windows update.
My father in law called me in a panic, the monthly updates keep failing, a day later did a new search for updates and all installed fine.
An overall note which is not 100% relevant, considering the hardware discussed in this thread. It would apply when talking about some old, single-core Pentium/Athlon with 4GB of DDR memory, which in turn is a very rare case, at least in my experience. Both questions(which version should I use) are answered. Yes, I did answer one of them via PM, because homebrew stuff was involved(not allowed on the public pages of the forum). Point was it's a bit more hassle-free to use a clean, slipstreamed image(no funky visual/"performance"/w/e mods to it) as opposed to an untouched MSDN image(or just make one yourself). The line suggesting x64 on a 4GB+ machine is also on point, as there's no mention of ancient hardware with shaky 64-bit driver support anywhere in the thread. Overall notes are useful mostly when they're on point.
I would like to suggest you use Win 64 bit with less extra software only few which is very useful like one AV + IDM and other which you really need it.
