    Hello Everyone

As a general rule of thumb, run wooden boards from the entrance outwards to make your room feel bigger or longer. If you want your room to feel smaller and warmer, lay your wood flooring from side wall to a side wall.

Also, it's important to lay wood flooring finished side down, to reduce wear and tear. :D

I would generally prefer to lay it on the floor.

But direction, going on the OP's make it seem bigger/smaller rationale, is not so much determined by the entrance, as by the orientation of the flooring to the orientation of the room. Laying it parallel to the long wall can make the room seem larger, perpendicular can make it feel smaller, irregardless of where the door opening is.

Not sure what it would be if I lay it longwise on the floor and put it crosswise on the ceiling. Maybe that would make it an M. C. Escher style room. :-0
