I'm building a new PC next week. I am going to use Windows 10 Enterprise. Which version do you folks think I should use, 1803 or 1809?? Isn't 1809 so glitchy that MS stopped rolling it out?? Thanks in advance!
1809 is fine to use. there is only one nasty bug, which can delete your personal files in the user folder. you are only affected if you upgrade from a older windows version and got a special gpo rule set. go for ltsc 2019, if you don't care about store or apps. there is no reason to stay away from 1809, especially if you do a clean install.
After i made a clean-install of Windows 10 1809 my PC sometimes crashed when i played my video games. Now i downgraded back to 1803 (and cleaned my PC with compressed air spray) and my PC works fine again. Just saying this so if you encounter something similar ...
Yeah, same confirmation as for any other fresh RTM (or revoked) and driver issues . Couldn't break my LTSC so far while stressing it with running virtual machine(s) and ESD>>WIM conversion at the same time, besides FF, TV and several other programs.
You let it look like unusable and that additionally from hearsay about things which are mostly fixed or do not impact productivity in general.
So far nothing I've read here is making me feel any better about 1809. I do need to look at LTSC tho. Thank you for all replies.
Memory is always short in such cases and tends to romanticise things. When released even Win 7 was FAR from being perfect.
I recommend Enterprise LTSC 2019, which is based on 1809 build, you can manually integrate Store if you want to play UWP games, there is one annoying bug with file associations on 1809, but it should be fixed soon with Cumulative Update.
17763.1 deleted the user files* during upgrades in some scenario's, when you clean install it doesn't happen, and when the 17763.55 update is pre-integrated, it also doesn't happen on upgrades. *) Download folder, documents, pictures, etcetc...
You don't need the Windows Store. The choice of apps is up to you, and only up to you. 1803 LTSB appears to be my candidate so far, although the situation with Office 365 support for LTSB and LTSC appears awfully murky. It is worth noting that the difference between 1809 and W7 in terms of bugs is that the former (1809) is more destructive, or something like that. But nothing replaces local disk backups in the first place.
It's Enterprise 2015 LTSB (1507), Enterprise 2016 LTSB (1607) or Enterprise 2019 LTSC (1809), 1803 didn't have a LTSB/C sku.
My bad, sorry. Enterprise 2016 LTSB (1607) it is, then. To be honest the naming scheme for Windows 10 is a bit complex from my perspective.
