I received a new macbook white (2 GB RAM) today. I want to install bootcamp to run several windows programs on a daily basis. These are programs for work and not for play. I'll also need to access the windows files through Mac OS. Help me decide which version of windows should I install. Thanks. 1) Windows XP Pros: Free license for me, reasonably fast, best program compatibility for the software I run, Supports FAT32 Partitioning Cons: Have to install lots of security software (defender, antivirus) and keep up with lots of patches, annoyingly bad search 2) Windows Vista 32 Bit Pros: Has most of the security software up to date out of the box except for antivirus, does automatic defragging, Free Ultimate license for me, good compatibility with all older and current software, fast search Cons: Install size is large due to ultimate install, probably the slowest OS of the three, Unsure if it works with FAT32 3) Windows 7 32 bit Pros: Probably faster than vista, but not sure if it's faster than XP, Smaller install size than Vista, least amount of crapware than XP or Vista Cons: Expensive (unless I could somehow use the $30 upgrade license), Unsure if it works with FAT32, unsupported by bootcamp so far, search is missing from start menu
Go with Windows XP SP2 Home Edition, Vista is good I have no complaints on it. Windows XP should be easy for her and no compatiblity issues, plus if you never used OS 10 or Vista it will be quit a new learning experience so XP should be fine. If it in parrels or VMWare to use 32 bit or 64 just use 32 bit. OEM might work, however I remember trying to use it and got an error while it was installing mainly because you have to give your product key before the install of the os.
Is there a special trick to logon into windows fundamentals? I tried several times installing in vmware and can't logon
I downloaded an iso and it's md5 hash gets 456 hits with google so it's probably a good one. I fill in a username and a pw during setup, and at first boot when it asks for username and pw it always says on of them is invalid, so I can't come into windows. I also tried it with username and pw in unatendend file but that has the same effect. EDIT: found the issue, you have to use administrator as username the first time... (ms kind of logic?)
sha1 = e3f4c05cd1ea45a52e69b537273bc9b0fc22ca5c does not seem to be the real thing (homebrew) The real thing is only on edonkey (but took only 70min to come down) sebus
Can you pm me an edonkey link then, image looks ok but no risks? What size is your iso, exact to the byte? Mine is 603.553.792 bytes.
ed2k://|file|Windows_Fundamentals_For_Legacy_PCs.iso|602793984|E7A7B67B96E3323322D26BFF9542AF17|h=BLVJNKYYPPAOZ7NQOBRBC3DSHECF3OGN|/ 602,793,984 bytes SHA 1: 816237a22c9f1a7b388c34f584e95a1c66ed6c61 sebus
That links to a 5.89KB file, and other wflp cds on edonkey are the same size as mine. Shure you've an original ms iso? With which utility was your iso made when you look at the propperties with an iso program? should be cdimage 2.47
My iso hash is correct - 816237A22C9F1A7B388C34F584E95A1C66ED6C61 (just Google for this hash & you will find the ed2k links), that what matters - and yes, it is made by CDIMAGE 2.47 (10/12/2000 TM) The original name is SW_CD_SA_Win_Fundamentals_LPC_2006_English_MultiLang_WinFLp_Core_CD_MLF_X12-27765.ISO There is no space in 6027 93984 (that is the board doing it) I also have the E3F4C05CD1EA45A52E69B537273BC9B0FC22CA5C iso, but as I said, I do not believe it is M$ original sebus
Ah I found it, and I think that's the other one I downloaded (and deleted). Will download it again then. Thanks
