I have a COA on my second-hand PC. I try to install XP to use th COA. but it say the serial number is invaild. SO I search info by google, it say there is a sp2c version XP to use new key. I think my COA is with SP2c key.
Who can upload Windows XP SP2c? The volumn label is CRMPOEM_EN. Do anyone have the info about it? What is different from VX2POEM_EN, which I try to install XP used.

    VX2POEM_EN = Windows XP Professional (SP2b) OEM

Personally if this is a branded machine i,e dell, hp, e.c.t i would just make or download oem SLP CD. Start by reading stickies also run oembios.exe.

Old topic (and my very first post after lurking). I have what I believe is XP Pro SP2c. The TackTech quote appears to mislead folks into thinking that's what the label is. The label is VRMPOEM (reread the TackTech quote and think about it) and there absolutely are other file differences. It appears to be a "half-breed" of XP2b and SP3. All the files/folders are dated 07/27/2007 12:00 as well as it being created exactly like the SP3 ones (same CDIMAGE, same creation "x16" - India). And, yes, the files inside are post-SP2b/pre-SP3 dates, as well as an entirely different DPCDLL, PIDGEN, LICDLL, as well as having a PID.INF (just like SP3). The COA keys will require SP2c, if that's what was installed (and *maybe* SP3 will work) as everyone has sadly discovered (WWW is rife with WTH???'s).

The build *appears* to be 5.1.2600.3160, in spite of the supposed "fix" you'll find under KB906472. WINNT32A.DLL/U.DLL are 5.1.2600.3186. The OEMBIOS.xxx files are the original compressed 2001.The ISO-Size keeps coming up as "Embedded". No, it's not, at least this one (inspecting the SIF).

The OEM *.CH_ files appear to be correct (internal dates):
    I386\ACC_DIS.CH_
    I386\ACCESSIB.CH_
    I386\IESUPP.CH_
    I386\IEWEBHLP.CH_
    I386\SUPP_ED.CH_
All are internally dated 2007-01-22 19:22.

These values do *not* appear anywhere on the WWW -
    File Size: 616,720,384
    MD5: A1D919EB37BF1687493E6BFDF9994956
    SHA1: 60FD730346C047A9B9C0108D63A71E62A37A1646
    CRC32: FFFFFFFF

Everything seems consistent except for the "no other fixes" malarky MS disseminated.

Just thought I'd post this since MS (and everyone else) seems to have confused everyone.

Of course I could be totally wrong...

    C-ya on the dark side...

Installed w/default key in a VM and Winver =
    Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2)

Default key (PID.INF) yielded "76487-OEM-0012031-51200" (naturally).

Looks VERY much like SP2/SP2b except for certain changes (key files / install only). It includes the "SPRCnnnn.DL_" (language-specific message DLL's) same as SP3 PID-oriented files (different/older Build#).

I was wrong - not "other updates" - just a Pre-SP3 (AFAICT - see above). WINLOGON has the "pavang" in it (the MS programmer maybe?).

I don't have a place to upload. I could make an xdelta from SP2b->This and maybe put it on my server (as soon as I get it "fixed").

    Addendum - Made the xDelta.

I don't suppose I could eMail it to you? (provided via PM...)

-EDIT- Check your eMail from "submix8c".

Well, FWIW, I'm glad I had something (however meager) to contribute. Threat confirmed the legitimacy, as I did. There was a German website that helped me confirm the Volume Label (ended in "_DE", naturally).

Apologies for Topic Bump. This will be my fifth post, so maybe I'll be able to PM now? (sheesh!) BTW, Oz, I found you on a really old website during Win2k SP2 days.

I do not really recall it, was it the AU one where people at times traded discs via snailmail?

I was gonna say that but figure it wasn't worth the "debate". And yes, it was an old AU one. We must be really old. :p
