the title says it all. i have read so many tutorials on net regarding re-enabling windows mail in windows 7.

windows mail was introduced in windows vista but microsoft removed it from windows 7 and recommended windows live mail.

thats ok but i want to know if microsoft wanted to remove windows mail from windows 7, why did they just hide "winmail.exe" file in "C:\program files\windows mail" folder? why windows mail folder is still present in windows 7? why didnt they remove winmail.exe file instead of hiding it?

i'm just curious to know the reason as i didnt find it on any website. all copied the method from each other. :p

thnx redroad. that really really makes sense. :)

so it means microsoft had to make it not working due to that marketing debate. :(

I rather liked the onboard windows Mail as used in Vista .
just take ownership of the winmail.exe and delete it along with msoe.dll, then copy both from an installation of Vista ,and windows mail will work ok .
I hate any "live" (online) proggies like livemail etc .
