Why is "System and compressed memory" using so much CPU? The process says ntoskrnl is using 30-40% of my CPU and causing my Dell XPS fan to run constantly. It just started happening and I'm not sure how to fix it. Searches resulted in discussion of memory, but I have 12GB installed. TIA for any help resolving.
There is a driver that not works well. This is confirmed if Interrupt process is CPU consuming also. Try to uninstall those that not have been downloaded from WUpdate.
It's scanning your memory for any defects. Disable the Tasks Scheduled -- RunFullMemoryDiagnostic. This is the new WinSAT, though there's still WinSAT.
lol, spam? Did you EVEN read the 1st post?!. Have you EVER read something *BEFORE* REPLY? @donalgodon, try to disable RunFullMemoryDiagnostic
Firstly: Who's spamming?? I didn't wrote to use Process Lasso, I wrote LIKE Process lasso! And seem a bit different! Isn't it? Secondly: to get the real figure and info, you have to go a bit more in the deep, not just keep, what's come from same source as the problematic event, as the Lord's word!
I tired to disable RunFullMemoryDiagnostic in schedule tasks and it's still there. I notice that it shows up mostly when I play YouTube videos. Maybe I'm overreacting/assuming incorrectly? Should playing a YouTube video in Chrome or Firefox consume 30%+ of the CPU (Core i5)? I noticed yesterday that if I play via HDMI output, this isn't happening, but if I use the built-in screen, it is. Process Lasso Pro only shows 2% CPU use but Windows Task Manager shows 30%~ How is that??
My Compressed memory doesn't use CPU at all that much but I do not like the fact that it uses 25% of my memory every time I'm using an intensive application, its a shame this feature isn't optional.
