Why it's not possible to use "Managed" Metro/Modern/Universal/Smart apps?

    There are many useful Metro/Moderrn/Universal/Smart apps, whatever you call them, in the Windows store. They are basically mobile apps which are used on tablets/smartphones in other ecosystems like Google's Android and Apple's ios. But MS has optimized these apps for the desktop too. So why it's not possible to install them from other sites than the store. I have both Android tablet as well as iPad and its possible to install and use "Managed" apps from other sites than the Play store and App store, even paid apps. So why no one pay attention to the Windows store apps? Is that too difficult? Kindly inform.
