My husband did a system restore on my laptop, and now the screen is black and says windows is not genuine. I'm terrible with computers and need to know how to fix this. Does anyone know a simple way to fix this so I can use it again?
what operating system? and what computer(vendor and model)? You can start by setting all bios settings to default ..
When he did system restore did he do it from a restore partition on the hard drive or from restore disks?
So it was a factory reset as this sounds. In case there is no legit key for Win 7, i would recommend activating with Microsoft Toolkit from my signature (latest version is v2.4 Beta 9). EDIT: Was a bit fast here, you should first determine which system you explicitly use. Go to Control Panel/System and Security/System, there you can find this info . If it is Home (Pro) or Ultimate, this won´t work. The Tool afaik only activates Professional and Enterprise versions.
