Do manufacturers like dell, acer, and lenovo eventually include these SLIC 2.1 strings in their downloadable bioses? If I were a legitamate lenovo customer with the SLIC 2.1 string in my bios, and download & update to the latest bios from the lenovo website, what would happen to my SLIC string and activated win7? How is that different from using a modded bios and updating to a newer bios? Do you keep having to use modded bioses? If so, how do legit corp people with preinstalled/valided win7s upgrade their bios?
The answer is a no brainer. They would on PCs pre-installed with Windows 7. That is the reason for upgrading the BIOS to SLIC 2.1 in the first place.
Yup. so what motion55 saying is they'll release new bios if the current gen machine will be pre-installed with WIndows 7 and sold in retail. ie. the DV4 from HP probably gets new bios while the old DV2000 series wont...
gateway dx4200 no dx 4300 yes same motherboard foxxconn 4300 no pic on their website no bios updates at all until seven is out
They won't unless your model(s) has free upgrade-to-win-7 options. Those are still in the market and only eligible for buyers after June 2009(???), though earlier buyers still able to get the benefit of the slic 2.1 in their updated bios, they won't get free legitimate copies.
