Hi All, Just as the title suggest do microsoft plan release a retail version of windows 8 It may include Windows 8 x86 Windows8 x64 Windows 8 Prox64 Windows 8 Pro+WMCx32 Windows 8Pro+WMCx64 Plus any plans for a family pack like 3user or 5 user As most homes have more than one pc this as been the way forward for the likes of Norton/Kaspersky/Eset Plus many other If microsoft are adjusting pricing for windows 8 from 01/02/2013 will we seen more retail lines appear on the shelves of our pc stores Or do microsoft make so much from oem companys that the retail line will slowly disappear Ps: My neighbour purchase the windows upgrade dvd from a local pcworld store can this be used as a clean install , i read somewhere on this site that it can but unable to find it now
AS anarchist9027 wrote, there will be none Windows 8 Pro WMC, WMC will be sold separately via the Windows Store only. To your Ps: Yes, you could use that DVD for a clean install and need to activate it using an legit Pro Key if you like to stay legal!
In opposite to Win 7 the only official ways to purchase Win 8 is by buying from MS or retrieving via MSDN, no other sources available. The sticky thread which provided them here got a DMCA notice, as others here likewise. As Daz fittingly stated, MS is making all "pirates" jump through loops (small and burning ones) this time. WMC is meant as an upgrade only, not as a clean install.
