If I buy an extra SSD to put in my PC, will my Windows 10 deactivate? It's activated by upgrading from 7. Thanks
Somewhere at Microsoft they say: Deactivation will happen if 3 or more main components are changed. If the Mainboard is changed, there already more than 3 Main Components which get changed at the very same moment! Just, normally a Phone Activation will work with no problems!
want official from Ms go to MS not MDL You can change your video card and it will stay activated you can add an HDD or SDD and it will stay activated, if you "change" your c: drive and install a fresh copy of win10 to the new HDD or SDD it will activate after its finished installing and goes online. You can clone the C: and put it on another drive (a bigger one would be wise) and it will boot and still activate.
Not strictly true - one can change the MB of the same/similar model and retain activation (same CPU obviously) Besides phone activation does not work with DE especially from OEM.
If use the exact same MB Model, you're right! Important that the same Chip-set is used on the new MB, same CPU, same Graphic Card and so on! Regarding Phone Activation: we (in my company) used that Phone Activation for more than forty customers with OEM Product Keys and ALL worked well! Just to mention, we either get to Singapore and/or Mumbai (India) connected using Phone Activation from Thailand!
I changed my motherboard and cpu ( from h97, g3258 to x99, 5820k) and my windows 10 is still activated. This happened last week. Last year I changed motherboard (from z97 to h97) and windows de-activated. I am puzzled.
