(Sorry, if this should be in hardware...) I am looking for a notebook and find all the Acer travelmates quite interesting. They come without OS, but will there be the same problem as with the i3 i5 and i7 CPUs, when attempting to install Win7?
All i can say is that installing win7 on skylake cpu machines can cause some compatibility problems later as the mouse not working anymore after reboot or something like that but this can be solved by integrating usb 3.0 drivers into install.wim. and i have something else to add is that you have to make sure that the machine that you buy contains CSM options in the bios as you will face difficulties on installing win7 on pure UEFI, there are some people who say that it's not possible to install win7 on pure UEFI (without CSM options), others say it's possible but hard to be done. here's what i can say about this, hope this will help.
Thank you, CSM options in the BIOS, means, I have to check the boot options (usually F11?) for CSM, right?
as far as i know, you have to press "F2" to access to the bios on Acer machines. This way you will be able to check if CSM/Legacy Bios options are present in the bios of your machine.
