Hi, I have added all our photos to the public pictures folders and shared this with an XP machine (the kids). How do I set the permissions so that they only have read access and cannot edit or delete the photos?

Each setting I use seems to make no difference

    Thanks

    Simon

change the share permissions from everyone with All permissions to view only. If the share doesn't let you set it then you will have to do it in the NTFS permissions.

right clicking to change sharing properties is not enough, you have to go to Control Panel >> Network and Internet >> Network and Sharing Center >> on the left go to "Change advanced sharing settings" and set your sharing preferences.
