Like several people I installed the KB971033 update and got the Windows not genuine black screen, etc. Since this is a htpc that has no data stored on it and am using a BIOS mod for activation I wanted to see what would happen. I was surprised when it told me that is wasn't genuine, I thought the BIOS mod with SLP was supposed to look genuine forever, oh well. I must have used a blacklisted key when I installed windows After trying several things I was able to clear the not genuine error and successfully validate my Win 7 Ultimate x64 using the following steps. 1. Uninstall the update Control Panel>Uninstall a Program then click View Installed updates on the left side of the window and you can uninstall updates here. 2. Remove the current key. Follow step G. How to deactivate Windows and go back to the trial period at the link below. http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/7126-The-Official-Windows-7-Repository 3. Reinstall the certs file 4. Install a key http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/10370-Windows-7-OEM-SLP-Key-Collection 5. Reboot. I did several other things prior to this without success. Being the masochist that I am, I reinstalled the update with the new key and all is good so far. I tried to attach screenshots of Windows Validation was Successful webpage and MGA diag but it won't let me.
