I getting confused with this KMS activation! When using OEM key/cert/2.1 slic activation does one still need KMS server after 180 days ?
You don't need a KMS server at all with OEM key/cert/2.1 slic activation. Slic activation is done off-line.

No SLIC and CERT must match. Try DELL SLIC 2.1 + DELL CERT Can activate with any key you like (have ACER, DELL, LENOVO so far)
let me add aquestion. MS is listing these ACER, DELL, LENOVO keys so they release updates to undo the activation of 7 right?
MS has already confirmed that even if you have non-genuine windows you will still be able to receive "Critical Updates", just not "Optional Updates". But even then, you can still download the optional updates and install them separately, just not through the Windows Update GUI.
key does not have to match slic 2.1, only the cert. some 2.0 certs does not work oo slic 2.1, but most of them do, ms is'not listing the keys, this keys has been leaked from the royalty manufacturers OEM iso's.
so all the threads about SLIC 2.1 activation (new BIOS, certs stc) are useless when MS releases new WGA? lol
