Anyone know if there is a way to force Win 7 to Dump old textures from memory esp during a hard gaming session?

I am not sure dude but maybe the Do not allow DLL's in Memory Reg hack or simply putting your pc into standby after the game to clear the Ram

What's strange is it seems like it's not dumping the old textures like it should resulting in higher virtual memory usage north of 1.6GB...

Right click on an empty spot on your desktop and select New – Shortcut.

    2. Type %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks in the box.

    3. Click Next.

    4. Give your shortcut a nice name like “Clear Memory”.

    5. Click Finish and you’re done.

It can take up to fifteen mins for it to do its job.

So, this will force it to dump old textures during a gaming session right? meaning you don't have to log out in order for this to work?

It clears any dlls that are still in the memory that are not being used.

Also what game is it you are playing?

Trying to find a solution that actually will allow you to dump off the old textures in memory while in game, so the virtual memory is not continuously climbing to the point it causes a crash.

The game is Aion it uses the original CryTek engine, not the newer engine that Crysis uses.

If it should but is not then maybe it will be solved by a simple hotfix or update from microsoft dude. I really do not know though.

You can do the same thing by entering standby then waking it up too dude. That is what I do and sometimes I free's up 10% of RAM.

I know M$ released a hotfix for Vista to address some of the issues. Wonder if they will do the same for Win 7.

I am guessing they will too dude. Just give it more time, win7 is still a baby and needs to improve. :) Maybe try google and see what comes up too dude.

I actually made that fix. Problem is it does not work for everyone and has since turned into a flame fest.

Basically the people who it does not work for(some of the people) are butthurt that the fix actually works for others.

Seeing if any of you guys here had any other ideas >.<
