Win 7 to Win 8.1 without Windows 8 possible?

    I have a Windows 7 pre installed on my laptop. I also have a Windows 8 Pro license.

    Is it possible to upgraded directly from Windows 7->8.1 without going to Windows 8?

    you can upgrade to 8.1 directly but you cannot keep programs

    That is fine with me but how? I tried the Win 8.1 ISO but it wont accept my Win 8 Key .

    it certainly won't because you cannot install 8.1 with a 8 key. You need to use a gerenic key first and then activate with your 8 key
