I've been playing with a machine with 2 different GPU's and no internet connection . After testing this 4 OS, I realize they have remove a lot of drivers from the iso in Windows 8.1 and server 2012 R2. Under Windows 8 and server 2012, my 2 GPU got the drivers from the iso during installation. I try the same with the new isos, Windows 8.1 RTM and GA and also in server 2012 R2, and got no drivers. It's just me or this isos seem like they need another year? I know the new Microsoft politic is change OS every year (win 8.1, win 8.2, etc...), but if the cost to their customers is a s**t OS with toons of bugs or missing files because there is not enought time for testing. I think I will only stick to the primary changes (win 8, win 9, win 10).
I got exact issue here with My "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series" card windows 7 also lacks the driver, although my Laptop is Windows 7 OEM it's not missing by bugs or something, they decided to "slim down" Legacy devices so you go purchase newer
I have download server 2012 R2 from MSDN. It's not a download problem, it's just Microsoft forget/decided to remove tons of old drivers from isos. A couple months ago I spoke to a Microsoft representative about a driver problem in Windows 8, after a long talk it seem they were going to include more drivers in 8.1 than in 8. Now I see they have done the opposite.
I can also confirm, many many drivers have been removed versus Windows 8, same thing happened to me on a fresh install, went back to 8 anyways, lol......
@velocidad: you funny man... Wasn't talking about win8 but SERVER, no driver probs here. Read before you lol
I was not talking about any driver problems, and I test Windows server 2012 and got drivers, but not with R2. Also you should know the "server" word in a OS name does not stick to server hardware. You should know that by now. read before you write
