Win 8 -> 8.1 via Store the same as Win 8.1 MSDN RTM + Windows Updates?

I like to do clean installs on my machines and Windows 8.1 is no exception. If I install the Windows 8.1 MSDN RTM Iso (that was actually leaked by WZOR) and then just do Windows Updates (Rollups included), is that considered as having the full/final version of Windows 8.1?

Or, do I need to Install Windows 8 and download Win 8.1 via the Store to really/truly have the final version?

Please pardon the dumb question, but I have seen a lot of information in the Win 8.1 posts that have confused me.

Thanks a lot for your help and time!

I have both, they are the same final versions, but the first one used a lot more hard drive space, the second one via store upgrade, you need to delete the windows.old/windows~bt after upgrade, and used a lot less space.
