ericgl, have you come across any registry tweak to disable the Personalization->Start->"Show recently added apps"? I have been able to set all settings I wanted via registry, except that one. I have used RegShot and other apps extensively but to no avail. The reg keys that influence the other options on the Start page there (Start_TrackProgs and Start_TrackDocs) are working, but there is no entry for "Recently added apps" that I'm aware of (and doesn't exist at [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] ). So for that to be the only one that cannot be regged, it smells like a bug or at least a control that MS should have included in the registry there. It's a minor thing, but annoying when one is close to perfection
