The cookies from that site does not stay in my firefox when I restart FF.
But I use a addon called self destructing cookies in my FF.
It destroys all cookies when you close the tab, or after a certain amount of time.
    Works wonders for me.

Since I do not have enough posts I cant post the link, so you need to google for it. And you will find it at mozillas addon site.

Without cookies many websites do not work.

About the unexpected one: Check the Live bookmarks. Firefox (the abbreviation is Fx, NOT FF!) does include a "News" RSS feed (usually in the Bookmarks Toolbar, but that might be hidden) which it will query at Startup and every 15 minutes IIRC. Querying that feed might set the cookie if it includes news from theregister.co.uk (the feed is localized).

    Thanks guys

Cavveman I am now using Self-Destructing Cookies. Great program, thanks for the heads-up.

To stop theregister.co.uk I had to go to Preferences -> Privacy -> Accept cookies from sites -> Exceptions and Add theregister.co.uk and select Block. That cookie no longer shows up anymore.

Thanks odiebugs1, for a minute there I thought I stumbled on to some Microsoft conspiracy :p

Thank you everyone for your help, appreciated!
