I have been trying to download the Win10 1607 English x64 ISO file. I am using Win7 SP1 and Chrome. Win7 shows Genuine and Activated. I have tried several suggested methods. The download gets to about 2.6GB of the 4.07GB file, and says "complete" or "Failed". I have been to the Windows 10 Ultimate AIO Repository. The "Download ISOs" section says: "There is now three ways to officially download an ISO file". Method 1 speaks of "Changing User Agent". After installing the Chrome User Agent extention, I am to change the user agent to Linux or Mac. Neither of those two options are shown. My options are: Android, Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Edge Opra, Other, Safari, Spider / Bot, Windows Phone, and iOS. I selected IE, and tried provided DL link. The DL stopped near 2.6GB. Also tried Firefox with the User Agent extention. Linux or Mac are not available choices here either. I tried the DL using IE 11 also. Method 2 speaks of using the Windows and Office ISO Download Tool. The tool ran fine, but the DL stopped at the same spot. Method 3 speaks of "techbench" which I am I have not tried or researched. This is something I am unfamiliar with. I can do the research and familiarize myself if that is the direction I should go. I have tried several other links from MDL to the ISO DL. All methods that create a successful DL start end the same way ..... failure at about 2.6GB. I feel that I am doing something wrong that could be obvious to those more experienced then myself. So I ask for direction to get the ISO I need. My internet connection is very anemic. I only have a 1.5MB connection. This partial 2.6GB download takes about 6 hours, only to find out it failed. My frustration grows ...... sigh ........help ...... Thanks for any response !!!
Look in MDL QUICK LINKS in Sig for download locations Might want to bring up Admin Cmd Prompt, Type sfc /scannow in it, hit enter on keyboard to see if you have problems.
Never heard about Jdownloader? No, I haven't heard of Jdownloader. I'll check it out during my next 6HR DL attempt. Look in MDL QUICK LINKS in Sig for download locations The MDL Quick Links is a page I have not seen before. I'll look around and see what I can find that might help. Might want to bring up Admin Cmd Prompt, Type sfc /scannow in it, hit enter on keyboard to see if you have problems I'll let you know the results. What happens when you download another type of file of the same size (i.e.: mkv)? I haven't tried DL of this size before. What is mkv? @pf100 - Thanks for the suggestions. @lobo11 - If not having any other problems with my PC. I've even tried the same DL process on a second Win7 PC with the same results. As you folks have probably figured out, I am MDL acronym illiterate. I'm an old guy that has roots back to DOS and a 386 PC. I prefer to involve Microsoft as little as possible. I discovered this forum several years ago when I had a need for Windows Loader. It saved my PC after I made a stupid mistake during installation of Win7. I joined in 2015, but mostly quietly read and try to solve my problems. I believe I can struggle thru the Win10 upgrade process, if I can solve this stupid DL problem. I'll try a few things tomorrow. Thanks to all. edit: I believe OEM key
I know key is not problem, I just wanted to know if he had OEM or Retail key for upgrading to 10 purposes.
Looks like I will be busy researching many things tomorrow. I have no idea what a matroska video file is..... lol I have not reset my router. It appears to be working well. I connect by point-to-point wireless. My router then gets its WAN from the long range wifi receiver.
Resetting the MDM/Router is just disconnecting the power and reconnecting after 1-2 minutes. Check the energy setting for the WLAN adapter, don't let the PC turn it off to save energy.
I've got a good solid wifi connection ..... slow .... but solid. I've got the PCs set to never sleep. I am usually doing other activities while DLing ... checking mail, reading forum, never anything internet heavy. It happens on 2 PCs at about ( or maybe even exactly ) the same place in the DL. One PC is wifi connected to the router, the other is cable connected to the router. I am not trying to DL on both PCs at the same time.
I didn't see anyone say it so I will. Jdownloader is a download accelerator that will auto enter "some" captchas. I quit using it a few years ago. You shouldn't need an accelerator. If I recall my download reached 6-7MB/s at times without one. The issue sounds like it may be on your end. Do the typical tech. support things first. If all else fails Completely disconnect your modem for a few minutes. Do the same for your router. While they're off check ALL connections, RJ45's, cable, DSL lines etc.. Look for damaged cords/wires (you would be surprised what people find). Plug in modem then router then reboot PC. Good luck.
