It appears that Outlook 2016, when installed on Win10 LTSB, sets up a default Exchange IMAP connection. How can this be changed to a POP email connection?
Are you sure it's LTSB related? Because when i let outlook do the settings by itself it also does a imap setup, it gets the info from the ISP. When i select to do a manual setup i still can select pop.
email configurations can be changed in outlook settings. when setting up a email.. it is not about ltsb.
Thanks folks. I'm inclined to think it's a Win10 Enterprise problem. Even though Exchange was not installed (I don't think), the account was setup as going through an Exchange server, making. IMAP the only option. The drop box to choose IMAP or POP was greyed out. A choice was not possible during the setup. The problem is that all the files and folders are synchronized every time Outlook is opened. I've made the same install on both mine and my galrfriend's PC. I've gotten used to it. She has no patients with it. She's bugging me to get her back to a POP connection. . .
i'm using w10 ltsb & outlook 2016 imap/gmail, it's NOT a ltsb problem i had the choice and if i make a new account now i get the imap/pop choice try an office repair Good Luck
MSO16 gives no "repair" option only an install. Clicking on Install begins the install process.. This is happening on 2 separate PCs, both acting the same way. We both have only installed: Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Publisher, and Word. Nothing else has been installed. It is from the en-US ISO from the multi language edition. No other language has been applied.
(In installed programs) Go To > Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features Right Click on office 2016 / Change
Well, the first sign of potential progress,. I was able to get the repair function and run it. Still, no option other than IMAP. POP is still not offered as an option after the repair.
solo_voyager is using Click-to-Run of Offce 2016, it seems adding mail account is done by an assistant at first start without many options as MSI installation of Office 2016. Perhaps from Control Panel, Mail , you can setup a manual account.
