OK, I have Win7 Ultimate OEM installed on a Gigabyte board. Moded Slic 2.1 BIOS (Dell)with Dell cert and serial installed with Daz loader. I admit I am kind of paranoid now with the KB971033 patch out there now. I hid the update and have not had the ballz to run it. Anyway it appears I can get a legit retail Ultimate key. Is there anyway to 'convert' my OEM install to Retail (and insert the new key) without a reformat? Thanks!
The only thing that you have to do is remove the cert, the key with the loader and put a retail key. That the way i did it.
I am not really seeing anywhere to put the new key in. Do I need to flash the BIOS back to the original Gigabyte from the modded one in their now? Do I need to uninstall the Daz loader?
daz loader should have a uninstall option, use that. and follow my commands EXACTLY. do not use the dell key the key i gave you is the default ultimate key that installed when you installed windows to begin with. the commands i gave you will also remove the traces of any cert or key that may have been installed
There's no harm in leaving the SLIC in the BIOS, no need to re-flash, and MS cannot find fault with having a retail key in a system that has SLIC. That's how you do legal any-time upgrade. If you didn't install a loader, no need (or ability) to uninstall it. Just follow the rest of armada instructions above and leave the BIOS.
