It doesn't matter if you were upgrading or fresh install, you would still need to satisfy WTP's hardware requirements.
yeah, I did that on a hyper-v VM : ) all activated programs kept working. solid upgrade process! well done by microsoft
Btw, just a reminder(take it as a rumor, because it is not confirmed "yet"). Some guys always like to remove the watermark, previously there is probably no problem as long as the OS still runs fine after watermark-removal. But for Win10TB, removing the watermark will likely cause a problem for it to upgrade thru updates, either it might cause a update failure, or not able to receive the upgrading updates.
If someone changed his mind and don't want to upgrade through WU, to get rid of the upgrade you need to go to installed updates and uninstall update KB2990214, and reboot but this will wipe out you current WU history / database / cache
