Win8 Pro upgraded from Win7 Ult - Can we delete these folders?

    Hi,

    Upgrade my windows 7 ultimate to windows 8. My question is can we delete these 2 folders?


    $WINDOWS.~BT - 7.20 GB

    Windows.old - 15.5 GB

    Use the disk cleaning function of win8, they will decide what system files you can delete :
    Windows~BT = windows installation files
    windows.old = previous windows

    Yes you can. One is the installation files and the other is your backed up settings. Windows.old is all your files from Windows 7

    If I upgrade, do I have to install drivers once again?

    check to winold folder if there is something left over not being transfered to W8. Just in case. And then delete it

    Not if you do an Upgrade. But if you do a install without settings, you would.
