I hope, that (same like for Messenger) it will be for Chinesse market only, as I have no interest to update/reinstall again...
Or let's hope that it will be an update that removes metro entirely and restores windows to being windows, so everyone will have interest to update/reinstall...
Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PushNotifications] "ToastEnabled"=dword:00000000
You need to restart explorer to make this work, also you can do this over the Interface already.. winkey+i > notification hide for 8hours or whatever, it sets the ToastEnabled to 0 and sets a waketimer for the toast, if you set it over registry you need to restart explorer so that explorer reads this key and applies the setting, you should be able to just disable the toast without bothering with the waketimer, but you could also try removing the waketimer incase it still reactivates after some time.
If you think like that, there's no reason to use anything newer than windows 95. The fact that 8 has no improvements over 7 doesn't mean that future updates of 8 won't have either. One can always hope.
I wouldn't say 8 doesn't have any improvements over 7. I think there are a lot of improvements under the hood. I guess there are just a lot of people who'd like to use Windows 8 if it only came without the Modern shell.
I meant improvements that masses notice. Programs starting 0,0000000000001 seconds faster, support for new hardware no one uses (and would use oem drivers anyway) doesn't count.
This part of the info the wzor has posted is the highlight, does it mean the windows 8.0 rtm keys won't accept for Windows 8.1 2014 Update install??
Not necessarily, it just confirms 8.1 RTM keys will work for the update, although it is possible wzor meant to say *only* 8.1 RTM keys will be accepted. (difficult to get that kind of nuances from a translation )
