Hi all. Since I just upgrade to the latest version of W10, the 1607, I have a little problem with my 2 external hard drives USB 3 Samsung M3 Storage (2 TB) and La Cie Rugged (500 GB). They are detected (sound) but then they appear every 2 as RAW format in Disk Manager. A classic USB meets no problem. - From the Explorer, selection of the disc gives the message ' X: is not accessible. This request is not supported ' - I did a chkdsk X: /f and no error appears after the analysis. the drive was seen as NTFS - I tested on a USB 2 port, the discs are unreadable also. - I tested on a pc with the previous version (1511) and here, they are perfectly readable. - Same with a PC running w7 problem of drivers in the W10 1607 upgrade? The only working solution I find was to reformat (fast) the disk (I tried that with La Cie 500 GB). Then it becomes readable without problem. But the solution is not satisfante if it is necessary to save (for example 2 TB) the disk on another system and drive before formatting. Thanks for your help.
sometimes its a usb filter like dvd filters had issues.. run win repair portable in safemode and reboot and retry. what burning dvd program or usb phone drivers did u install recently on that 1607 after win repair try uninstall usb drivers and reboot then device manager right click update.
Actually I have exactly the same problem on two different computers. Clean install, no recording software or USB filter drivers installed. This issue only appeared on 1607, before 1607 that it never occurred. It seems only external USB drives are affected. Cheers.
I looked at the link you provide in a previous post (reddit.com..../bug_windows_10_anniversary_update_tanked...) and it seems MS is working on a fix for more than 20 days and as you wrote, we just have to wait ! thanks for your answers
Cumulative update KB318986 (2016 09 13) solves the problem. There is a bug when trying update via WindowsUpdate (stop downloading at 95 %). I just have to download and execute the corresponding .msu (Sorry, I'am still not allowed to give links)
I can confirm that this issue has been solved in the latest cumulative update from 13-09. Very happy, drive readable again no problems at all. There wasn't even need to repair it. Cheers.
