Hi, i currently have windows 10 x64 pro activated with a digital license linked to my microsoft account. If i want to upgrade in the near future (obviously i will be selling my old motherboard) should i wait for windows 10 to activate on my new system first, and after successful activation just remove my old system from my microsoft account and then sell it? sorry if it sounds confusing.

Just use the activation troubleshooter on the new hardware when needed. Or better yet, establish a new HWID for the new hardware, i never use my MSA, only to fetch the Insider Previews.

Thanks for the reply, as far as i know your windows 10 digital license needs to be linked to your MSA for activation troubleshooter to work. New HWID, as in installing windows 7/8 on the new hardware and upgrade to windows 10? i thought that method doesn't work anymore.

The free HWID can still be established ;)

Okay thanks, just mentioning that i have a local account, you don't have to login in with your MSA account, after you linked your device with your MSA you can go back to your local account, without your system being deleted from your MSA, something alot of users out there don't know ;)
