Just to be clear, my PC was activated with digital licence "Windows 10 Home" when I tried to upgrade by changing the product Key with a OEM key it wouldn't except it. I then changed the product key with the generic PRO key, it did indeed upgrade to PRO but it wasn't activated. I then changed the product key with the OEM key I purchased, and Bob's your uncle.... it was activated
You bought an oem systembuilder Pro key (did you also get the dvd's/box?), lobo11 meant the same but forgot the oem key couldn't do the upgrade itself. Next time don't pay money for keys to people who "stole" them, just establish a HWID for Pro.
All my machines have a digital license, but if MS ever gives me any activation issues for any reason that I can't fix with the activation troubleshooter I'll KMS that s*** so fast it'll make your head spin.
What I am trying to figure out is rather than go through all the above link changes is their a way to delete OEM key for good, enter the Retail key you bought, that upgrades you to Win 10 Pro, so next time you upgrade OS it does not resort back to OEM original OS. May have to call activation center at MS and beg for them to change to your Retail key and give you HWID for that key. Anyone know a way?
Does not appear there is way to remove OEM key, so that means the above link 2 posts up or maybe call MS, I don't know what they can do
