Hi. I made a backup of Windows 8.1 with advanced token manager. Even I do not download the update offered by MS. How I can make backup in Windows 10? Are the same files taken.dat?
It's completely pointless, simply forget that. (Re-)Activation will always need online contact. NO OFFLINE OPTION SO FAR.
Use a Disk image software to image your whole install if you want to back up your activation. It's the only way so far.
Yes. They know every machine that installs and activates their software who isn't using an offline activator such as Winloader or MTK. Don't freak out, tho. They just know your hardware information and machine name. They don't associate it with personal info if you don't use an online acct.
what if dual boot win10 pro activated from win7sp1 upgrade and win10 Enterprise on another partition activate using KMS ?
The moment one machine gets net contact (either which) MS will know all needed. They don't seem to care atm thou.
the same in windows 8 and 10 i do my windows 10 activation backup by advanced token manger and restored it successfully activated without need to internet
Yes. Windows 10 has changed somehow. Unless whole image backuped, a first time Network-Connected-Activation is a must. OK. Your appearance saves me time for explanation.
I failed as well. I replaced the reg keys and tokens in offline mode using a boot cmd prompt. It's doing something else that we don't know about with these online activations. We really need to: 1 re-install on a known activated machine with net off 2 set up a probe program like processmonitor that logs reads/writes 3 turn on net and do slmgr /ato and find out what it reads/writes
Not sure if there is any 'mystery' here involved ... could be they made a handshake with the Server mandatory, to recreate/validate the tokens, like an-in-build WAT check, known from Win 7 online Validation .
