Hi everyone, I would like to report my negative experience after trying Windows 10 for 6 months. The August Build worked fine. Edge was disappointing, but IE11 was still there, so everything was fine. I found some good Store apps and most of my programs were working. However, after upgrading to the 1511 Version I experienced several issues. Several programs, including Alcohol 120%, were uninstalled and since then I have encountered several BSODs. CPU usage was too high sometimes (above 35%) when I was playing a few videos in Firefox. If I used the HDD intensively then the BSOD was almost certain. I have downgraded - excuse me upgraded- to Windows 7, and I intend to stay until its support ends. Then I will make the big switch to a robust Linux distro. I've been using Windows for too long, since I was 4 years old in 1998 when I got my first computer. Now, it seems that the build quality is gradually diminishing, so it's probably time to say goodbye. A Windows 10 Enterprise in VM should be more than enough.
Mine wasn't a clean install, who wants to start from scratch every few months? A rolling release is fine in Linux as all your software is updated at the same time as the OS, Microsoft update their OS but the installed software is your problem, that's not progress.
Agreed but we all know that even security update is not that stable in this time I saw many ppl saying after upgrading to win10 and not clean installation that is was awful
my installation of 10 was a clean install but upgrades since. My upgrade from 8 - 10 was a complete disaster, I was forced to start again. Harkaz only refers to Windows 10 and the recent upgrade to 10586, a major upgrade after just six months and another next August is just a joke. My PC was running fine before the last "upgrade" I now have it running nicely again but I know that come August it will be ****ed up again and I will have no choice in the matter.
windows 10 releases on vm running on your favorite OS (I think here the two mostly preferred are windows 7 and linux mint) I'm on 8 enterprise with startmenuclassic cause my mobo doesn't like 7
It's good to know that everything is fine on your systems. Well, it seems that my Wifi adapter is too old and caused all this mess. Still, I'm not satisfied with other aspects of the Windows 10 experience, particularly the frequent upgrades. I miss the service pack installers so much... A side note: A friend of mine has told me that the codecs were not working out of the box after installing Windows 10 Build 10586 clean. I advised him to install a codec pack to get everything back to normal.
I migrated 4 PC from 8.1 (x86 and x64) to W10. No problems with 10240, but some issues with 10586. CCleaner got unistalled. But some time ago i reinstalled it and it is still ok (perhaps cumulative Windows update corrected something). But there is still a problem with regedit; MS is aware of it but didn't correct it.
10586 broke Network Teaming, thanks to MS which don't support ANS and broke the network. I will stay with win7/8.1 until MS know how to make a stable os
LTSB + KMS would appear to be the route to a quiet hassle free Windows experience, or as close as you can get
