I never understand the reasoning for installing N and then the media pack. Majority install N to keep the media stuff out lol

 

Fun fact is that GTA V won't install without the media feature pack

 

Media Feature Pack also restores ability to use MTP devices, which out of the box with an N edition does not work.
AFAIK, you don't -have- to install all the other stuff when you install the Media Feature Pack, it only restores the ability to enable the features, not installs them.

when people want to use Windows Media Player but only have license keys for Windows N versions.

 

That is a good point, I do tend to forget that there are people who actually own their license to the OS hehe

 

Never encountered somebody with N license, they are made for European purposes but at least in holland i never seen one offered in stores or installed

 

N+MFP = non N

MFP brings back all removed media features, except store apps
so, where's the point?

Indeed. Most smartphones use MTP(Media Transfer Protocol) these days rather than Mass Storage mode.
You are correct that without the Media Feature Pack you cannot connect your Galaxy to access it's internal storage.
