Hi guys. Since 9879 build I have HDD issues. With every build. It turns off randomly and I can't fix this. Tried to turn off secure boot, but no luck The main OS is on SSD. Also I have 2 HDD in RAID. Well windows turns them off in every 10 seconds. It's a nightmare. Please help!
Its not windows 10 dude thats just windows power settings change them so they don't turn your drives off.
Google things like Windows 10 + PUIS (Power Up In Standby) + hdparm, for solution and you should be good. Build 9879 had quite a few problems with drives, ranging from BSOD upon waking from standby to complete bricks and the issue persisted as the change was done to the hardware itself, but it can be fixed via software, hdparm for Windows.
No it's definitely a bug in Windows 10. Though I don't seem to have this issue anymore in build 10125.
There are many people that have HDD issues with Windows 10 (any version) BSOD, crashs and all HDDs are then corrupt, total SCREW UPs. and THIS means (IMO) Windows 10 is a super far cry from RTM. It is not a power issue, THIS IS WINDOWS 10 ISSUE... The Fix, is Boot to your favorite RESTORE MEDIA (Paragon - Acronis or xxx ) and RESTORE your complete HDD BACKUP. OH yes, and THAT is EXACTLY what MS suggested you do.
Next time your in Win 10, Control Panel-Power Options-Click on when computer sleeps-advanced options a boat load of options here
I have to up this thread. I have installed 10240 build and the same thing. My HDDs are turning off. When I open some files from the RAID(which consists from 2 hdds) windows turn it on. Could be bios or some settings? Please help. Someone have this issue? Mainboard is ASUS Z-87A with latest bios.
Upgrade the BIOS and check your power cables as well as the signal cables to see if that would work. It seems to be a hardware related issue though.
Systems behave funny at times. It doesn't take much resources to check for hardware issues. You might be surprised of what you will find. Did it work when you revert to previous Windows 8.1?
All is working fine on W8.1.Tried all HDD/SSD benchmarks and 3dmarks. It's something with BIOS/Firmware. Interesting, why only my pc has this issue.
If you've been able to successfully narrow it down to BIOS/firmware you should probably upgrade them to the latest version and see if it forestalls the problem. I am still speculating on hardware issues though.
My stanges behaviour is : if i boot win 8.1.1 and connect my win10 hdd, win 8.1.1 reports problems, and want to correct them ??? I did not do any checks or repairs. I did this, to delete the win10 windows.old folder. But no problems with power management, sleep, or hibernate. Asus z-87ws latest 2004 bios
