Hello! it's been long time since my last visit here I got a laptop (not mine) came with Windows 8.1 Home SL, owner upgrade it to Windows 10 Home SL (ofcourse!) but he got a free ProWMC key from windows 8 or 8.1 times. The question is that this free windows 8(.1) ProWMC key is any useful to upgrade from Windows 10 Home SL to Windows 10 Pro ? like: 1 - upgrade Home SL to pro using generic key (3V66T) 2 - when upgraded to pro, activate using Win 8 ProWMC key ?? So, you get someone else's laptop with 10 sl genuinly activated by HWID as a result of the upgrade? And you first installed pro and activated with a kms solution before thinking about the HWID activation?
No, it was genuine windows 8.1 home SL came with the laptop that's upgraded to windows 10 home SL and then upgrade to pro using using key 3V66T and next thing i've got is VL activated windows 10 pro.
Now i wonder if i clean install windows 10 home SL, will it be automatically activated, as in Microsoft servers this laptop is digitally entitled to windows 10 home SL.
Finally after hours of searching, found that the culprit was un-updated version of the november update (1511) of windows 10 (owner uses 'O&O shutup 10' to disable more than 90% of what can be disabled by that program including WU). I let windows update itself, after completion windows become un-activated Retail Pro (as expected). The problem now is that it's not accepting ProWMC key giving error that it's been used by another PC. while owner of laptop did use his ProWMC key on another windows 8 PC. so i guess that's it. he can't transfer that PC license to this laptop.
The free Pro WMC must have been used on an activated W8 PC. If it is no longer in use then reinstall Win 8 on another HDD on the new PC (you may need to telephone activate) and then upgrade to WMC (you may also need to telephone activate). Once W8+WMC is activated on the new PC gatherosstate or complete the Upgrade to W10 to gain digital entitlement for the new hardware. Boot from the original HDD and you will be activated. Note you can't telephone activate with the old key while in Win10
thanks for your help, but the windows 8 PC on which free ProWMC key was used on get's dumped/disposed off long time ago (also didn't upgraded to windows 10).
